Complications of diabetes are medical problems that happen because of diabetes and possibly it's tratment. they are divided into 2 categories:
*short term(which develop rapidly)
AND
*long term (which develop over a long period of years
 
Short Term
There is only one short term complication due to therapy; hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia is low blood glucose and may occur at any time. Warning signs that you may be getting hypoglycemia are:
*tiredness
*shakiness
*sweating
*rapid heartbeat
*trouble concentrating
*headache
*moodiness
*tingling in the fingers
*extreme hunger
*nightmares

There are 2 short term complications due to diabetes. They are Hyperglycemia and(only for people with type 1 diabetes)Diabetic Ketoacidosis
Hyperglycemia is very HIGH blood glucose and can be life threatening if not treated. Hyperglycemia can occur due to illness or stress.
Diabetic Ketoacidosis is when people with IDDM have lack of insulin. this occurs when the body begins to break down fatty tissue and muscles for fuel.
 
Long Term
Long term effects of diabetes are;cardiovascular disease, eye damage, nerve damage, and kidney damage.
